Footprint

Grand Chelem is dedicated to minimising or eliminating its carbon footprint and industrial waste. Grand Chelem barriques for the ageing of wine are sourced from the only forest in France with harvesting of timber on a cycle exceeding 200 years, managed by the Office National des Forêts. Furthermore, Grand Chelem has partnered with the Hay Street Holdings group with a view to obtaining biodynamic certification for the group’s Wilyabrup vineyards despite the unique challenges faced due to introduced pests. In this regard the house is researching ways of minimising the impact of pests on viticulture in the Margaret River region as an integral part of its Initiative Cowara, named after the Wardandi word for the purple-crowned lorikeet.
